Lets talk about India...where India needs to change!!!!!
What was new in India in the last few days? Umm... legalisation of Gay Rights? Section - 377...
True!! So much of happiness all around... so many controversies... so many arguments and what not!
Lets talk about India's biggest problem today... is it Gay Marriage or is it Arranged Marriage! Sounds stupid? Trust me... its not!
With the number of divorces going high... it is so very crystal clear that even arranged marriages are becoming a big time troublesome issue. India, under the blanket of GLOBALISATION, has seen a lot of changes underneath it. Each one of us have started to adopt the western culture (or may be 'ape' the western culture)... night clubs, clothing, our accent in which we talk (most of the times
Talk of arranged marriages...I really do not mean to generalise the lot here (please do keep that in mind)... I do believe that still a lot of people go with arranged marriages but... most of the youth prefer the other way round. 'Love' is in rage! :P
Young couples have been facing a lot of problems...am talking about those who got married in an arranged fashion! I have myself seen a lot of couples heading towards divorce... both husband and wife working... expectations do not match... ego clashes and boom! Its not only in the case of both the parties working... its also there where only the husband works. The flaws of marriages...everyone knows!
Lets come to Gay Marriages now. My point is... that if we are comfortable with Pubs, Boozing and for that matter, even sex... then why is the 'gay marriage' such a big thing! Let it be! Let them be happy with whatever they want... have they ever objected on you being STRAIGHT? Lolz... why to steal their rights??? I know, for people like us (STRAIGHT)...it sounds absurd... GAY marriage?? OMG! But come on... grow up. If you think its a taboo or may be some kind of a stain on Indian culture... then perhaps Indian Culture is completely under a big pool of mud these days... completely stained!
What I 'personally' feel is that... none of them, i.e. Gay marriages or Arranged Marriages, is India's problem! The problem is your thinking! As I said in my post 'Friends, Relationships and Marriages'... it is in your hands to make your marriage work. It might be tough, but it ain't impossible, ok? There are ups and downs in life... and you need to be strong to handle it and it'll be done.
And as far as gay marriages are concerned... stop taking it as cheap or vulgar or something derogatory, for that matter! It is something as natural to them as it is for us in being straight! So just chill, accept them as one of us... and treat them well!
India's problem lies within each one us... our mindset... Once we are through with setting it right, we all have a bright future to look forward to! :)
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

good point Dop!
they dont interfere with u, why interfere with them?!
and regards arranged marriages, i agree. i also see many couples doing splitsvilla, their marriages being arranged. guess if u love someone, and marry them, the bond is stronger! coz u know the other heart, its easier to connect! :)
lovely write!
good one again Artz.. i feel proud :) the post has come out really very well.. and I totally accept ur point!!! I was narrow minded once upon a time..and yeah now I am open minded enf :) I shamelessly accept this truth :P
Brilliant!
I really like the point of problem being in the mind.
There are different levels of any argument. Your approach is more on the intellectual side.
But I wouldn blame arranged marriage all together !
Cheers! Write away!!
i have never been concerned by these things....i dont know wat views our parents have but i feel the youth are better at accepting the truth more open minded than the other generation...not to point out that they are careless too but ehy have their own way of learinng things which may go wrong too....i am not bothered if someone says to me dont talk to muslims or lets say he is form another caste....even racism exists in india in the way indians are more obsessed with white or fairness of the skin...ask parents to get a groom who has a dark skintone for her daughter who is fair....the point here is whether he guy is nice or not and not whther he is black or white.....i ahev seen this....sorry for the large comment....nice post:)
Has always been the problem with india.. blowing trivial issues like gay marriage out of proportion... n never centralizing the main issues...
arranged or love... Not much is the difference nowadays... both the guy n gal get to know each other better before the marriage...
but the problem of divorce arises AFTER the marriage... when couples get tired of each other... the solution is, as u've said - teensy bit of effort from both the guy n gal in igniting the flame which they once had...
On a personal note, I dont mind whether its arranged or love marriage... as long as it is a happy one...
Aarthi.. WOW.. WoW.. Samooga sevai panriya?? So proud of you dear..:))
I so agree with your thoughts..
When they don't interfere in you's.. Why u do interfer in their's..
:))
hiee aarthi
happy independence day!
that was a nice thought provoking post!
rightly said..if anything that needs to undergo a change then that is our thinking!
the reason behind a relationship might be any but to keep it intact and make it work is in our hands!
very well written dear!
very good points..i think the decision of our courts are welcome at this point of time..
about arranged marriage, love or arranged..it all depends on efforts of individuals too to make it work
nice write..from ur topic I thought you would give some practical methods of solving the 'big issues' today in India. For me the big issue is still poverty and illiteracy. Both of them connected.. and about arranged vs love marriage, I think child marriage and dowry crimes are rampant in villages still now! and that again is connected to awareness or mindset as such.If u ask me what my take would be on the solution, I would say I can't do much now. So there's not much point in bantering about the problems I guess :)
hey ur right,,india shud stop being taboo,,be happy and love evryone around us,,as humans

@ghostrider..India should learn how to comment once only .. :P
thoughtful and intelligent post...but a suggestion...would u stop using words like err and hmm...we all must progress from being bloggers to writers someday and amongst a mature audience these usages dont find a place...
i liked the way u charted the course of ur own thoughts...frankly speaking i am not even 25% of what ur in expressing myself through prose and stories...poetry comes naturally...so m in awe of people like u... kudos to this one...
